The 4th International Conference on Social Sciences and Intelligence Management (SSIM 2024), organized by Chaoyang College of Humanities and Social Sciences, officially started on 20 December 2024. Focusing on “social sciences” and “intelligence management”, the Organizing Committee invited two keynote speakers: Dr. Qian Qu (Associate Professor and Programme Director, School of Business, Singapore University of Social Sciences) and Dr. Ting-Chia Hsu (Distinguished Professor, Department of Technology Application and Human Resource Development, National Taiwan Normal University). The two keynote speeches are a starting point of academic exchanges between humanities and digital technology through the speakers’ in-depth analysis of public issues and personalized learning with AI.

With a total of 195 conference papers submitted to SSIM 2024, scholars and experts from Bangladesh, Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Poland, Latvia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Mainland China, and Taiwan shared their academic findings and practical experiences exploring the impacts of digital technology and public issues on humanistic disciplines, social sciences, and intelligence management, together with the precautionary measures for these impacts. The attendees all spoke highly of this conference.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Tao-Ming Cheng, President of Chaoyang University of Technology, stressed that technology-related issues as current trends of education provide new ideas for the fields of humanities and social sciences. The University is the only private school that has topped the chart as one of the best universities in Times Higher Education (THE) for eight years in a row and the World Sustainable University Rankings on QS 2025. He hopes that the faculty and students at the University will keep “sustainable development” in mind as the core value and work with international scholars on more scientific research to boost the University’s visibility and academic strengths.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Liza Lee, Dean of Chaoyang College of Humanities and Social Sciences, also emphasized that SSIM 2024 in the fourth year demonstrates the University’s power of international exchanges through fruitful academic research and positive feedback on previous conferences. In the future, Chaoyang College of Humanities and Social Sciences will strive to fulfil the educational responsibility that incorporates both humanities and technology for promoting the University’s academic reputation and influence.
