Scholars from more than 12 countries participated in the IEEE SSIM 2022
The 2nd IEEE International Conference on Social Sciences and Intelligence Management 2022 (IEEE SSIM 2022), was held by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of Chaoyang University of Technology (CYUT) and was kicked off on November 25th. The conference topic was “Social Sciences in a Changing World” that combined the social sciences with intelligence mangament, charting a path for the ever-changing society, and discussing new issues and challenges that promote further academic exploration and dialogue. The two keynote speakers, with each of them being an expert within industry and academia as well as respected scholars in their respective related fields, discussed and presented their research findings that shared their practical experiences in intelligence management. The attendees all spoke highly of this conference.
In his opening comments, Prof. Tao-Ming Cheng, President of CYUT, said that the development of new technology has changed our life and deeply influenced the fields of humanities and social sciences, and with this is a new starting point for the sustainable development of social sciences and intelligence management. The editorial board of IEEE SSIM 2022 received a total of 183 manuscripts from Norway, USA, Peru, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Malaysia, South Africa, India, Indonesia, Japan, and Vietnam. In total, about 130 manuscripts were selected and registered for this conference.
The first keynote speaker, Dr. Philip Hubbard, talked about “Teaching Languages with Technology: Building Principles from Lessons Learned.” He recounted various lessons learned from the intersection of theory, research, and practiced in technology-mediated language learning. The new application of emerging technologies impressed the conference attendees.
The second keynote speaker, Mr. Niklas Gustafsson, discussed “The Need for Innovation, Transformation, and Leadership.” He pointed out that nations, companies, and individuals in the world are facing massive challenges today, including climate crisis, economic, political, and demographic shifts, digital transformation and automation. Moreover, organizations transform ideas into new or improved products, service, or processes. For all industries and sectors, innovation is the cornerstone of sustainable economic growth and prosperity.
According to Prof. Liza Lee, Dean of College of Humanities and Social Sciences, CYUT has maintained a place in the World University Rankings of Times Higher Education for 6 years in a row. The College of Humanities and Social Sciences will keep working with its departments to improve the quality of academic research. The success of IEEE SSIM 2022 not only shows the faculty’s academic strengths, but also sets new milestones to become a leading university for the fields of humanities and social sciences.
